William Control

Okay, so, I've been an Aiden fan for how long now? Five years? Yeah, about that. I've loved 'em for a while. And then wiL did his own thing for a bit. Here are my views.

Now, the debut album for wiL Francis's side project - William Control - came out about six months before Aiden's fourth studio album "Conviction". I realized once "Conviction" came out that I wasn't into it as much as I was previous Aiden albums, but MAN I loved "Hate Culture," William Control's debut. That album kicked ass. A concept album about a man's last day before he takes his own life, the album goes in a totally different direction, which was wiL's intention. Some of my favorites? "Tranquilize," "Strangers," "Don't Cry for Me," and "Whipping Haus," as well as the only single from the album - "Beautiful Loser". I love the dark electronic vibe, and of course I still love wiL's voice. The whole feel of the album's just badass, and some of it's got that complete in-your-face feel to it that I fell in love with from Aiden.

Now, I just listened to Noir - William Control's latest album, released June 8, 2010; I can't decide what to think. The first video - "I'm Only Human Sometimes" - is bittersweet for me. I really like the lyrics, but I'm not so much into the song itself. It just... drags, for me. As for other songs, I like "Dorian Gray" for a couple reasons. First of all, I love that book (READ IT!) and I love that the song wove the story in a new way. I was iffy at first, but as soon as it hit the chorus I realized I liked this much more than the single. Then there's "Why Dance With the Devil When You Have Me?" That one's really weird. The lyrics of the verses are really dark, and then the chorus is a really contrasting vibe I feel like. The beat's incredible though. It's got a dark club feel to it. One more song I have to comment was a reallllllly surprising cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love". Not BAD surprising, just surprising. A great cover (like I said, I love his voice) but it's so very out of place on this album. It's a little weird for me.

So, thoughts, guys? Aiden or William Control? Hate Culture or Noir? Vampires or werewolves? Ninjas or pirates? (Yeah, those last two aren't related, but you can answer anyway.) Favorite song? Favorite video? Song you'd love to see made INTO a video?

Come on guys, help me out here ;)

Love ya.
